Water Service Payment Options
All city offices are now closed to the public. No in-person bill payments can be made at this time. We offer a variety of payment methods. They are all listed below. Please note that the online processing fee for paying online will be waived starting March 18, 2020.
If you are experiencing a financial hardship due to the coronavirus, please contact our water customer service department to put a temporary hold on your account or to set up an installment payment plan.
Please note that if you do not contact us to place a hold or set up a payment plan, or fail to pay your water bill by the 15th of the month late fees will still be applied.
- Pay By Mail
We accept checks and money orders (we do not recommend mailing cash). If you are mailing your payment please make sure to include the name and the account number the payment should be credited to. Please make your payment payable to The City of Belmont and mail it to:

- Automatic Draft**
You can request to have your monthly payment automatically deducted from your bank account by clicking here. If you have any questions please call 704-825-5586.
**When you sign up for automatic draft you will receive $10 off your first months bill**
- Pay Online
Water customers can sign up for the WaterSmart portal and pay your water bill online. All you need is your account number and zip code (hint: everyone that has water service in Belmont has a 28012 zip code). The online processing fee will be waived for all online payments at this time.
- Drop Boxes at City Hall
There are two drop boxes located at City Hall, 115 N. Main Street, Belmont. They are both located in the rear of the building near the parking lot. A drive-up drop box located at the bottom of the back entrance ramp and one to the left of the rear entrance door to City Hall. The drop boxes are checked multiple times each weekday.
