Update Tuesday, May 5

Posted on May 5, 2020

The City of Belmont has begun a phased reopening of our parks.  As of today, Tuesday, May 5 the Davis Park tennis courts and the Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park boat landing are now open for public use.  On Friday, May 8 all walking areas, picnic shelters, baseball fields, soccer fields, and basketball courts will be opened for public use.  We are asking everyone that utilizes these amenities to continue practicing social distancing and sanitize hands and surfaces regularly.

All city park playgrounds and restrooms will remain closed until further notice.  We will continue monitoring the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and will open these amenities when it is safe to do so.  We are preparing internally to be able to take the necessary cleaning precautions for these amenities when they do reopen.

Over the past two months our staff members have been utilizing this time to complete outstanding projects in our parks.  Construction is still taking place in Stowe Park which we are hopeful will be completed by the end of May.  New playground equipment is on order for Stowe Park and Davis Park that will replace the two dated play units.  We will also be installing an ADA spinner at Stowe Park that will be accessible for children in wheelchairs.  We have been working hard to enhance our parks to welcome our residents and visitors back when they reopen.
