State of Emergency Declaration

Posted on April 23, 2020

On April 23, 2020, the State of North Carolina has extended the stay at home order until May 8, 2020.

The City of Belmont has declared a State of Emergency that goes into effect Wednesday, March 25th at 8 AM.  The declaration prohibits the use of public parks and public restrooms in the city limits of Belmont until further notice.

Please note that there are two exceptions to this restriction: the Rocky Branch Park trails and the Seven Oaks trails.  We encourage everyone to continue going for walks, taking bike rides, or going hiking but we ask that you continue to practice social distancing while outdoors and in public areas.  This means keeping a minimum distance of six feet from others to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We recognize the additional limitations this places on our residents.  Please know that this was a difficult decision to make and we greatly appreciate everyone’s understanding as we continue to make the adjustments needed to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
