What is a Special Use Permit? 

The zoning ordinance identifies certain land uses which do not precisely fit into existing zones but may be allowed upon approval of a special use permit (SUP). A special use permit allows the city to consider uses or minor modifications which may be essential or desirable, but which are not allowed as a matter of right within a zoning district, through a public hearing process. Permitting a particular use, subject to certain conditions of approval, may help to make that use more compatible with the neighborhood. 

 

Documents related to the proposed zoning change are available for viewing by appointment only from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. Monday through Friday at the planning department, located at 1401 E.
