On March 4, the Belmont City Council named the new soccer park after a longtime youth athletic leader Everette C. "Ebb" Gantt. We are very excited about breaking ground on Ebb Gantt Park in March!
The City of Belmont is building its first new park in over 30 years on Brook Street in East Belmont. This park will feature two full-size soccer fields that can be converted to several youth fields, a 1/2 mile asphalt walking track, playground, picnic shelter, and restrooms. This park will enable the parks and recreation department to move much of its soccer program from its baseball fields, which will free those facilities for baseball. The project will also include improvements to the streets and sidewalks around the park.
The City Council awarded the construction contract to Morlando Construction and the financing contract to BB&T on January 7, 2013 (the award is conditioned upon approval of the NC Local Government Commission).
Construction will begin on March 15, 2013.
Construction will be complete by November 10, 2013.
For more information on this project, please contact Sallie Stevenson, parks and recreation director.
