UPDATE: The City has contracted with Cajun Carolina Concrete for this sidewalk repair program. Construction began on Thursday, December 1 and should be completed by the middle of the month. In addition to the original 11 repair locations, the Cajun Carolina Concrete will repair the sidealk on Catabwa Street between Main Street and Park Street.
The Belmont City Council has approved a Fall 2011 sidewalk repair program to fix 11 of the worst segments of some of the most traveled sidewalks in town. The locations for the sidewalk repairs are shown on the map to the left. They were selected by the Street Department and City Engineer reviewing sidewalks citywide and assessing them on several criteria.
Bids from contractors are due by October 25, and the City Council will review and award the contract at its November 7 meeting. This repair work is expected to begin in December.
The cost of this sidewalk repair program will be covered by the gasoline tax revenue that the City of Belmont receives from the state. If you have any questions about the sidewalk repair program, please contact Public Works Director David Isenhour at 704-825-0506.
