New high-tech water meter installations continue in the North Main Street area, North Central Avenue from the bridge to Amity Acres, and in the South Main Street area from South Central to Julia Avenue. The city’s contractor will be placing door hangers on residence and business doors when the meter change-out is completed at each location.
These smart meters are capable of two-way communications between the meter at your home or business and the City. City water utility customers will have real-time information on their water consumption and the City will be able to improve service and operational efficiency. “The City Council has been planning for this change for a long time, and we are excited to be able to use this proven technology to provide more efficient services to our water customers,” said Mayor Charlie Martin. “Another great benefit to this new system is that our water customers can check their water usage any time, not just when they get their monthly bill. They will know if they have a leak in time to fix it and save money on their bill,” he said.
